Why Proalp does not take part in Black Friday sales

Many customers ask us about it. Many wait to see whether we will also offer a Black Friday discount. However, over decades of shoemaking, we have developed values that simply do not align with the consumer culture often associated with Black Friday. These are the principles that guide us.

1. Quality footwear at fair prices all year round

Every quality product has its value. This is especially true for handmade footwear, where the choice of materials, craftsmanship and attention to detail directly influence the final product.

At Proalp, we use carefully selected materials that meet our standards for comfort, durability and sustainability. Naturally, these materials come at a certain cost.

As a footwear manufacturer, we have direct contact with our customers, and we care about offering fair and transparent pricing. We do not believe in artificially increasing prices only to advertise large discounts later. In our view, this is neither transparent nor ethical. Instead, we prefer to offer the same honest value throughout the year.

2. We prefer meaningful customer benefits

Customer satisfaction is extremely important to us, and we aim to offer benefits that are genuine and sustainable for both our customers and our business.

From time to time, we organise outlet of last and sample pairs. When our production schedule allows, we also make shoes in your preferred colour combinations at no additional cost. We provide footwear adjustments and personalised support whenever possible.

Rather than relying on short-term sales campaigns, we focus on creating long-term value and helping our customers find footwear that truly meets their needs.

3. We prefer to celebrate local traditions

Our shoemaking heritage and commitment to sustainability encourage us to focus on traditions that are closer to our home.

Many modern shopping habits have been adopted from American consumer culture, and Black Friday is one of them. While we respect that approach, we choose to celebrate the values that are part of our own tradition.

As a company that takes pride in Slovenian shoemaking craftsmanship, local production and sustainable practices, we would much rather invite you to celebrate the holidays and traditions that were cherished by our parents and grandparents.

What we celebrate instead

We do not celebrate Black Friday. Instead, we celebrate every day when a customer leaves our shop happy with a new pair of Proalp shoes. And we celebrate even more when customers return to tell us how well their shoes have served them, how comfortable they have become, and how they have improved their daily lives. For us, that is worth far more than a one-day sale. We hope it always stays that way.
