Natural sheep’s wool in Proalp shoes
Lanolin – the wool’s natural protector
The main characteristic of sheep’s wool is lanolin, a natural wool wax secreted by the sheep’s sebaceous glands. Its composition is very similar to sebum produced by human skin. Lanolin provides natural protection for the wool – it helps prevent the growth of micro-organisms, repels mites, and creates a dry, healthy environment inside the shoe.
In the wool we use, lanolin is non-allergenic, as all potentially allergenic lanolin alcohols are removed during the natural washing process.
Breathability and moisture regulation
One of the greatest advantages of wool is its hollow fibre structure. This natural property allows wool to regulate temperature and absorb excess moisture without creating a feeling of dampness. Simple airing is enough to refresh and clean the wool.
Natural benefits of Proalp wool insoles
Natural sheep’s wool insoles and inner linings:
- prevent excessive sweating,
- regulate foot temperature,
- are antiallergenic, antiseptic, and antifungal,
- provide comfort and a feeling of breathability with every step.
Wool linings and insoles made from natural sheep’s wool
Natural sheep’s wool in felt form is used as a sewn-in lining in all Proalp barefoot shoe models, except sandals.
Wool insoles are also available, which can be used in any shoes – not only Proalp models.
When purchasing, we recommend choosing insoles one size larger, as they can easily be trimmed and fully adjusted to fit your footwear.
