Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing the right size

You can find the size chart by clicking the “Size Chart” link on each product page.

When choosing the correct size, we recommend measuring your feet first. You can see how to do this here.

When selecting the right size, please consider both the length and width of your feet. In addition to length and width, measurements around the hallux joint and the instep can also be very helpful when choosing the correct size. You can find these measurements in the size charts on each product page.

Once you have measured your feet, simply find your measurements in the size chart to determine your size.

Shoe sizing can vary from one manufacturer to another. The sizes shown in our charts apply only to our shoes. If you are still unsure about the correct size, you can include your foot measurements in the order notes and we will be happy to help you choose the right size.

Our shoe size charts also include the widths and circumferences of our shoes. When placing your order, simply select the width you require.

The uppers of Proalp shoes are made from high-quality materials that will, if necessary, gently stretch and adapt to your feet during the initial wear, while later retaining their shape and width.

Yes, of course. All Proalp shoes are available in half sizes, with the exception of sandals.

In length, the difference between a half size and a full size is 3.5 mm, and 1 to 2 mm in width.

Yes, we can. Please send your foot measurements in a message to info@proalp.si. A surcharge applies for shoes in different sizes.

Proalp has permanent stores in Ljubljana, Kranj, Maribor and Celje, as well as occasional pop-up locations. You can find the exact locations via the link.

If our stores are too far for you, we encourage you to measure your feet. Based on your measurements, we can advise you on the correct size to order. In most cases, we get it right, but there is also an option to exchange the size if it does not fit.

We have been making made-to-measure shoes for almost 40 years. This means that we adapt our existing shoe models to the measurements of your feet. We take your foot measurements during your in person visit in our physical stores.

If you have more significant foot deformities, please contact us first so we can discuss the best solution.

Shoe care

Proalp shoes are made entirely from premium-quality materials, creating a highly durable shoe with a long lifespan. Naturally, durability also depends on how the shoes are used and cared for.

When storing your shoes out of season, place crumpled absorbent paper inside them (newspaper works well too) to help maintain their shape.

If your shoes become wet, allow them to dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat sources, as excessive heat can dry out the material and reduce water resistance.

Wipe dirty shoes with a damp cloth. If necessary, add a very small amount of mild washing-up liquid and then allow them to air dry. Never soak Proalp shoes in water or wash them in a washing machine.

All non-smooth leather versions can be brushed with a suitable shoe brush and protected with a colourless waterproofing spray. Smooth leather shoes can be treated with a colourless shoe cream; an ordinary hand cream is also suitable. Apply a small amount of cream to a cloth and spread it evenly over the surface of the shoe. Leave it for a short time, then polish and smooth the surface with a clean cloth. When applying a new cream or care product, always test it on a less visible area first before using it on the entire shoe.

How often should shoes be cleaned and cared for? Everyone has their own routine, but we recommend doing so a few times per season.

Of course. You can also order replacement laces, insoles, and shoe care products from us. These are available in the “Accessories” section of our online shop.
