Elegant summer leather barefoot sandals for natural movement
Terra barefoot sandals are designed to support natural foot movement and comfort on hot summer days. They combine a minimalist barefoot design, high-quality natural materials, and an adjustable strap system that ensures an excellent fit for a variety of foot shapes.
The sandals are made from high-quality natural leather, which provides comfortable contact with the skin. Compared with synthetic materials, leather retains less heat in warm weather, helping feet stay drier and more comfortable. A lightweight rubber sole provides good grip and stability on various surfaces.
Adjustable straps for a perfect fit
Terra barefoot sandals feature two straps that gently hug the foot and allow for precise adjustment:
- the front, narrower strap is adjustable and movable, including in the toe area, allowing for individual width adjustment
- the upper, wider strap securely hugs the instep
For different sizes, the strap length is designed to fit average feet, but individual adjustment is also possible at the Proalp workshop during manufacturing process.
Lightweight design and barefoot feel
- sandal weight: approx. 130–180 g (depending on material)
- sole thickness: 8 mm (leather + rubber)
The lightweight construction and thin sole create a natural walking sensation, allowing the foot to move freely.
Handmade in Slovenia
Each pair of sandals is hand-stitched in our workshop in Tržič using traditional craftsmanship.
Most of the construction is stitched; glue is used only to attach the outsole.
Choosing the right size and width
When choosing width, we recommend the same width as your closed barefoot shoes. Sandals require slightly less extra space in front of the toes, so it is usually best to choose the same size or half a size smaller:
Example:
- if you wear 39.5, choose 39
- if you wear 39, choose 39 for sandals as well
When ordering, you can also provide your foot circumference at the instep so we can further adjust the strap length if necessary.

- Upper: leather
- Sole: rubber
Shoe care helps maintain a good appearance, durability, and resistance to different weather conditions. Below are some practical tips.
Shoes made from smooth leather:
Occasionally wipe them with a damp cloth, which may include a drop of mild dishwashing liquid.
Clean shoes can be treated with a thin layer of colourless cream or leather balm, which should then be gently rubbed into the smooth leather using a dry cloth. When applying a new product, always test it on a less visible area before treating the entire surface.
Shoes made from suede, nubuck and brushed leather:
If dry and muddy, brush them with a suitable suede brush.
Occasionally wipe them with a damp cloth, which may include a drop of mild dishwashing liquid.
Once clean, apply a colourless waterproofing spray suitable for footwear.
For all Proalp shoes please also note:
Allow wet shoes to dry naturally in a shaded, well-ventilated area or indoors, away from direct heat sources.
Never soak them in water or wash them in a washing machine.
If desired, during the off-season you can stuff them with crumpled absorbent paper (e.g. newspaper) to help maintain their shape.
How often should be shoes cleaned and maintained?
Everyone has their own preferences, but we recommend cleaning and caring for your shoes a few times per season.
Ordered items that are in stock are dispatched within two working days of placing the order. For items that are not in stock, the average lead time is extended by approximately three working days. If the delivery time is further extended, we will notify you accordingly.

Local sourcing from Slovenia and Italy: we know who made our shoes – and what they're made of
We source materials for Proalp shoes from manufacturers in Slovenia and northern Italy. Italy is known for sustainable and high-quality leather production, with an emphasis on green practices and hand finishing. One of the most important centers is Arzignano, where the leather we use for our Proalp shoes is produced.
Thanks to local and traceable production at Proalp, we know exactly where our materials come from and how they were processed.

When developing our footwear, we place great importance on breathability and therefore use hydrophobic materials. With regular care, the shoes maintain their water-repellent properties, meaning they can withstand moisture in moderately wet conditions.
