When wearing sandals, you don’t need as much empty space in front of your toes as you do with closed shoes, so round down when choosing your size. If you wear a half size in Proalp barefoot models, or if the size chart indicates a half size, round down—for example, round 39.5 down to 39. If you wear size 39 in closed shoes, choose the same size for sandals as well.

That’s because our barefoot shoes already include the recommended 12 mm of extra space in the size, which you really need in closed shoes so your toes have enough room when walking. In sandals, your feet are naturally much freer.

We don’t recommend larger deviations from the above when choosing sandal sizes compared to closed shoes—this matches our experience from in-person fitting advice. If you’re not sure, you can also message us for advice.

When ordering online, you can also use your foot width as a guide. For very narrow feet, choose narrow; for wide feet, choose wide. You’ll find the measurements in the size chart. For size 39, the narrow last is 94 mm and the wide is 98 mm. You can also send us your instep circumference with your order so we can adjust the strap width if needed (as long as it’s not a major deviation, this adjustment is free).
