Costa leather barefoot sandals are designed for anyone seeking durable, functional everyday barefoot sandals. They combine a robust vulcanised rubber sole, soft natural leather, and an adjustable three-strap system for a stable and relaxed gait across a variety of foot shapes.
Stable, grippy sole for various terrains
The Costa sandal sole is made from vulcanised rubber with excellent grip, ensuring durability and a long lifespan. Flat and flexible, it supports natural foot movement.
The sole construction is flexible yet protective enough for walking on various terrains:
- bottom layer: vulcanised rubber for maximum grip
- middle layer: microporous rubber for shock absorption
Natural materials for comfortable wear in all conditions
Your foot is in contact with high-quality natural leather that does not overheat in warm weather, helping maintain a comfortable feel against the skin throughout the day.
Barefoot design and a secure fit
Costa sandals are crafted on a spacious barefoot last in multiple widths, allowing natural toe splay. The wide toe box ensures comfort and stability.
All three straps are adjustable, allowing for:
- individual adjustment to your foot
- improved grip without slipping
- a relaxed gait without unnecessary adjustments
Handmade in Slovenia
Each pair of sandals is hand-stitched in our workshop in Tržič using traditional craftsmanship.
Most of the construction is stitched; glue is used only to attach the outsole.
Choosing the right size and width
When choosing your size, we recommend:
- the same width as your closed shoes
- for length, it is often advisable to choose half a size smaller, as sandals require less space in front of the toes
Example:
- 39.5 → choose 39
- 39 → stay with 39

Shoe care helps maintain a good appearance, durability, and resistance to different weather conditions. Below are some practical tips.
Shoes made from smooth leather:
Occasionally wipe them with a damp cloth, which may include a drop of mild dishwashing liquid.
Clean shoes can be treated with a thin layer of colourless cream or leather balm, which should then be gently rubbed into the smooth leather using a dry cloth. When applying a new product, always test it on a less visible area before treating the entire surface.
Shoes made from suede, nubuck and brushed leather:
If dry and muddy, brush them with a suitable suede brush.
Occasionally wipe them with a damp cloth, which may include a drop of mild dishwashing liquid.
Once clean, apply a colourless waterproofing spray suitable for footwear.
For all Proalp shoes please also note:
Allow wet shoes to dry naturally in a shaded, well-ventilated area or indoors, away from direct heat sources.
Never soak them in water or wash them in a washing machine.
If desired, during the off-season you can stuff them with crumpled absorbent paper (e.g. newspaper) to help maintain their shape.
How often should be shoes cleaned and maintained?
Everyone has their own preferences, but we recommend cleaning and caring for your shoes a few times per season.
Ordered items that are in stock are dispatched within two working days of placing the order. For items that are not in stock, the average lead time is extended by approximately three working days. If the delivery time is further extended, we will notify you accordingly.

When developing our footwear, we place great importance on breathability and therefore use hydrophobic materials. With regular care, the shoes maintain their water-repellent properties, meaning they can withstand moisture in moderately wet conditions.
Delivery times vary depending on whether the shoes are already made and in stock. Shoes that are in stock are dispatched no later than the next working day. If a model is not currently in stock, it will usually be produced within a few days, and you will be notified accordingly. Should you place a special order with a longer delivery time, we will inform you in advance.
