Proalp is a Slovenian footwear company with a long-standing shoemaking and footwear craftsmanship tradition, which we build on with a modern understanding of foot health, foot biomechanics, and natural movement in functional footwear design. Proalp combines expert knowledge of premium natural materials and traditional handcrafted footwear production techniques with foot biomechanics and natural walking principles to create functional footwear that provides both freedom of movement and optimal support for foot health.
Each pair of shoes is handcrafted in our workshop in Tržič, Slovenia, using high-quality materials and precise shoemaking craftsmanship with great attention to detail.
Proalp footwear is developed through real-life movement and natural walking experience.
Proalp barefoot shoe are designed to support natural walking, maximum ground contact, and foot biomechanics, closely replicating the feeling of walking barefoot. At the same time, we apply years of mountain experience to develop stable, durable hiking footwear with reliable grip and long-term comfort on varied terrain.
Because we are in nature every day ourselves, we understand what feet need — both for relaxed natural movement and for more demanding terrain.

At Proalp’s workshop in Tržič, we create a wide range of shoes every day, including custom colour combinations tailored to our customers’ wishes. Proalp footwear is made from premium, locally sourced natural materials, all within a 350 km radius of our workshop in Tržič, Slovenia, European Union. We focus on sustainable footwear production, reducing environmental impact through responsible sourcing and short supply chains.
We extend the life of our functional footwear through professional repairs, adjustments, and sole replacements, supporting a circular approach that promotes durability, sustainability, and long-term use.
A personalised customer approach remains our strength.
We provide individual footwear fitting advice, both in person and remotely, helping customers choose the right size, model, and functional shoe design based on their natural gait, foot biomechanics, and movement needs. Despite our growth, we remain a small and flexible European footwear company, dedicated to shoemaking craftsmanship, natural materials, and the continuous development of sustainable, high-quality footwear.
