How to measure your feet?
Accurate foot measurement is essential when choosing the correct shoe size, especially for barefoot shoes. Measure your feet to the nearest millimetre, keeping the pen perpendicular to the floor at all times. Measure both feet, ideally with the help of another person, and make sure your weight is evenly distributed on both feet.
Measure the length, width, and circumference of both feet
When choosing the right barefoot shoe size, we recommend taking measurements while wearing socks of an appropriate thickness. The key measurements for selecting the correct shoe size are foot length, width, and circumference. Once you have measured your feet, check the correct size and width in the size chart.
It may also help to know that Proalp barefoot shoes are made from high-quality natural materials that adapt to the shape of your feet during the initial wear period. The sole is made entirely from vulcanised rubber. The raised side section has no hard edge and can easily expand to accommodate a slightly wider foot.
With your foot measurements, please check the size charts available via the link on the product page of your chosen model.
If you are unsure about the correct size, you can send us your foot tracing at info@proalp.si. We will provide non-binding advice to help you.
Foot length
To measure your feet accurately and choose the correct shoe size, take a sheet of paper or cardboard and place it flat on the floor against a wall. Mark the point where back of your heel will be positioned. Step onto the sheet with one foot and place your heel firmly against the wall, ensuring that the paper or cardboard does not move.
Put your full weight on the foot, as an accurate measurement is only possible under full load. Then use a pen or pencil to mark the longest point of your foot. Measure the distance from the heel to the marked point and record the foot length in millimetres.
Keep in mind that for some people the longest part of the foot is the big toe, while for others it is the second toe. Repeat the measuring process for the other foot, as foot length often differs between feet.
Foot shape and width
To measure your foot accurately, step onto a sheet of paper or cardboard so that your entire foot is fully in contact with the surface. Using a thin pen — ideally a pencil — held perpendicular to the floor, carefully trace around the outline of your foot.
To determine foot width correctly, measure the widest part of the traced foot. This information is essential when choosing the correct shoe size, especially for barefoot shoes, where the right width is important for comfort and natural foot movement.
Foot circumference
For accurate foot measurement and the correct shoe width, it is very important to measure your foot circumference. Take a tailor’s tape measure and measure the circumference of your foot at two key points: across the ball of the foot and across the instep.
Foot circumference is especially important, as it ensures a better fit, improved comfort, and natural foot movement.
